ISPO - Innsbruck - Hochfügen

Voici les nouvelles de la semaine dernière qui fut chargée puisque j'étais à Munich du Lundi au Mercredi pour l'ISPO, puis à Innsbruck et enfin à Hochfügen pour une autre étape du Freeride World Qualifier, événement 4*. 

Here are the news from last week, which was intense as I was in Munich for ISPO (big trade show for sports brands), then to Innsbruck and finally in Hochfügen for an other stop of the Freeride World Qualifier, 4* event.

On commence par la fin, mais pas des moindres, ma 3eme place au Bigmountain Hochfügen.

Mais revenons à l'ISPO ou je devais me rendre dans le cadre de mon programme universitaire: "Sport and Outdoor Industry Managment", EMLYON Business School. Ce fut aussi une belle opportunité en tant que skieuse de pouvoir découvrir le plus grand salon des sports de glisse en Europe.

But let's come back to ISPO where I had to go for my school program, "Sport and Outdoor Industry Managment", EMLYON Business School. It was a great opportunity as a skier to be able to discover the biggest Trade Show for Action and Winter sports companies.

Je crois que cette photo parle d'elle-même. Seegrube à 10 minutes de Innsbruck. On a été chanceuses sur ce coup là, nous n'avions qu'une seule journée pour aller skier, notre emploi du temps était plutôt serré.

Les nouvelles arrivent un peu tardivement, mais les évènements ce sont enchainés rapidement ces derniers jours. J’était la semaine dernière à St Moritz, pour l’EngadinSnow, contest 4* du Freeride World Qualifier.  

Le format de compétition a changé par rapport à ce qui était prévu initialement. La compétition c’est déroulée sur une seule journée, un seul run ; au lieu d’un format sur deux jours avec qualification et finale.

Je termine 7ème, un résultat relativement satisfaisant sachant que j’ai été confronté à des problèmes d’orientation durant ma descente. La face était relativement courte, sur un terrain bombé, je ne me suis pas perdue mais je n’ai pas pu sauter ce que j’avais prévu lors de mon repérage. Cela reste une expérience positive car malgré les conditions de neige changeante, fraiche, glacée, croutée j’ai réussi à développer mon ski pour obtenir un résultat correct.

Mes compatriotes Chloé Roux Mollard et Maud Malaisé complètent le classement, respectivement 8ème et 9ème. Les trois françaises sont donc dans le Top 10 sur une compétition qui accueillait beaucoup de rideuses, nous étions une vingtaine au départ.

Ayant eu la chance de trouver un logement chez des amis de mes collègues de voyage, Chloé et Nicolas Salençon, nous avons décidé de rester quelques jours sur place afin de profiter du domaine. La station a été beaucoup affectée par le vent, et les conditions n’étaient aussi bonnes que par chez nous, mais il est toujours agréable de découvrir de nouveaux terrains de jeux.

Sorry for the late update but I’ve been pretty busy lately, time been running so fast. I was, last week at the EngadinSnow event, a 4* contest of the Freeride World Qualifier.

The format of the contest change once again, it became a one day-one run event instead of two days competition including qualification and final on the famous North Face of Corvatsch.

I ended 7^th which is a satisfying results given the fact that I haven’t found on my way down all the features I wanted to hit. The venue was shorter than we expected and included a lot of roll over. It’s overall a good experience as I succeed to develop a fast skiing in changing snow conditions going to fresh, icy, crusty and wind affected snow pack. I usually have hard time to push myself in those conditions, that’s why I’am happy with the results. The other French female skiers, Chloe Roux and Maud Malaise got respectively 8^th and 9^th, frenchies ended in the Top 10 in a competition where we where around 20 to take the start.

Beeing lucky to find a place to crash thanks to my travel buddies, Chloe and Nicolas Salencon, we decided to stay a few more days and enjoy the domain of Engadin- St Moritz. The resort is wind affected and we probably had better conditions back home, but It’s always a pleasure to discover new playground.
