Avant que l'été pointe définitivement le bout de son nez (ce que j'attend avec impatience), j'en profite pour faire une dernière news hivernale.
Summer isn't quite here in France, so let's enjoy a last winter news.
Tiphanie et moi-même sommes parties fin Avril pour une competition 4* à Roldal. Ne vous trompez pas elle compte pour la saison prochaine.
Tiphanie and I were in Norway in the end of April for a 4* event in Roldal. Don't be mistaken the results counts for next years ranking.
Premier jour:
Après un départ plus que matinal 4h00, un peu moins pour Tiff que je reveille en passant la chercher: direction l'aéroport de Genève. Histoire de ne pas passer la journée dans les transports on fait une petite halte à Oslo pour se dégourdir les jambes. Une petite marche, un peu de slack est c'est repartie pour Roldal. Les paysages sont magnifiques mais la route interminable. Au bout d'un peu plus de 5 heures on arrive enfin à destination, il est 19h.
First Day:
After an early wake up, 4am, a bit less for Tiff that I woke up a minute before picking her up. Hopefully all her luggages were ready she just had to jump in her cloth and we were heading to Geneva airport. We decided to make a quick stop in Oslo in order to not spend all our day in means of transportation (car, plane and car again). The road to Roldal seems endless but surrounded of amazing landscape. We finally arrive around 7pm after more that 5 hours drive from Oslo.

Deuxième jour: Premier jour de compet
L'organisation change de face au dernier moment, à notre bonheur, celle initialement prévu ne donnais pas franchement envie. Malheureusement les vents forts obligent l'organisation à annuler les qualifications. Tout les coureurs devant monter en même temps dans la face, on voyait mal les derniers attendre en haut plus de 3h avec des rafales à 100km/h. C'est dommage c'est le seul jour de soleil que nous aurons du séjour. Du coup on en profite quand même pour skier un peu, nous savons que le mauvais temps doit faire son arrivée.
Second Day: First contest day
The organisation changed the qualification face at the last moment for the best. The initial one was really not appealing. Unfortunately strong winds doesn't allow us to take the start. Nevertheless we enjoy what we know to be the only sunny day of the trip and went skiing the face anyway and enjoyed some resorts laps.
Troisième jour. Stand by et tourisme.
On n'est pas venue en Norvège pour rester cloitré dans notre cabane. Du coup même si le temps est vraiment pas terrible, on se motive à aller faire un peu de tourisme et faire quelque chose de notre journée, la competition étant en suspend. Direction Oda pour une petite balade à la découverte des Fjords.
Third day: Standby and tourism
We didn't come to Norway to watch the bad weather through window doing nothing, so we chose to discover a bit the surroundings of Roldal to make something of our day. We took the direction of Oda to do a small hike that lead to a beautiful point of view on the Fjord.
Quatrième jour: On cours sous la pluie
Nous sommes ravis lorsque nous apprenons que la course va avoir lieu alors qu'il ne s'arrête pas de pleuvoir. En plus on doit tous monter en même temps, certains vont donc attendre plus de 5 heures sous la pluie. En même temps c'était ça ou pas de compétition et un trip en Norvège pour rien. Merci Eider pour la tenue GoreTex, elle était bien utile mais mon téléphone ne survivra pas cette épreuve. Il à rendu l'âme pour cause de noyade. Je termine 4ème en n'allant pas chercher ma dernière barre, c'était tellement dégueulasse et absolument sans aucun intérêt à skier et je decide d'en finir au plus vite. Il faudra travailler le mental pour l'année prochaine, je sais que c'est mon point faible quand les conditions ne sont pas bonnes. J'avais la ligne gagnante.
On rattrape la journée en terminant par une bonne petite soirée pour clôturer la saison.
Fourth day: Competition is on under the rain
We are happy to learn that we will run under the rain. Everybody has to hike up at the same time, so the boys will wait around 5 hours under the rain. On an other It was that or no competition at all and a trip for nothing if we reduce it to the contest. Anyway thanks Eider for the GoreTex equipment, it was useful even though my phone didn't survive this day. He drown and died. I end 4th after I abandoned the end of my line, it was so disgusting to ski with no pleasure (super sticky wet snow) that I wanted to end as fast as I could. I didn't go get my last drop. Shame that was the winning line. Well I know that I have to work my mental strength especially in bad conditions.
We end the day by a good party that closed this season.
Cinquième et dernier jour:
Il est un peu stressant, on s’est demandé tout du long si on allait arriver à temps à l’aéroport d’Oslo. 300 km ca n’a pas l’air si long, sauf quand on est limité à 60 et que TOUT les Norvégiens respectent les limitations au km/h près. Au final timing impeccable mais la voie des bus nous a sauvé pour le contournement d’Oslo. Une petite séance de rally improvisée. On en rigole maintenant mais sur le moment on ne faisait pas les malignes.
Fifth and last day:
A bit stressful, we were asking ourselves all along the road if we would make on time to get our flight. 300km doesn't seem that long except when the speed limit is 60km/h and that all the Norwegians are strictly respecting it. At the end perfect timing thanks to the bus and taxi line that allow us to go around faster. A good improvised rally session. We are laughing about it now but not that much live.
